Isaac Overcast (he/him) is a biologist with a background in computer science and mathematics. He is interested in understanding how ecological communities are assembled and whether there are universal laws that govern community assembly across spatial, temporal, and taxonomic scales. He investigates these questions by implementing models of eco-evolutionary processes and interrogating these models with machine learning algorithms and data obtained from observed communities. Mr Overcast received his undergraduate degree from The Evergreen State College, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior subprogram at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
